Withdrawal Syndrome Treatment Department is a detoxification ward. Patients are admitted based on a referral (e.g. from a general practitioner) with a diagnosis of alcohol withdrawal syndrome (F10.3) or mixed alcohol withdrawal syndrome (F19.3), i.e. a set of unpleasant and sometimes life-threatening symptoms that occur when an addicted person stops drinking alcohol or using substances.

At that department, patients are treated free of charge - under a contract with the National Health Fund (including uninsured individuals). The stay in the ward lasts approximately 11-14 days. Patients are provided with 24-hour care by doctors, nurses and an addiction therapist.

During their stay, patients participate in activities that motivate them to continue addiction treatment in outpatient addiction clinics, day addiction wards or residential treatment centers. Additionally meetings with representatives of support groups are organized.

A stay in detox is an introduction to starting proper addiction treatment specifically addiction therapy. Thanks to contact with therapists, patients have the opportunity to find out what further treatment looks like and how they can start it.

Admissions are scheduled in advance and can be arranged in person or by phone at 572 436 092 or 33 812 65 04.
