In 2014, the Silesian Blue Cross Foundation, with the support of the Evangelical-Ausburg Parish, received the opportunity to develop the facility of the Children's Home Facility in Pszczyna. For the Foundation, this meant the privilege of continuing the work of Mother Ewa, which has been going on in this place for 150 years providing help to those in need. The Foundation began its contribution to the maintenance of the building by cleaning it and preparing it for new functions aligned with the Foundation's mission and activities .The mission states "Providing help to people in need, in accordance with the Christian vision of man."

The first clean-up at Paderewskiego 3 was carried out collaboratively by the employees, clients and volunteers of the Foundation, to ensure it was ready before the official opening under the Blue Cross banner. The ceremony held on October 19, 2014, was combined with a family picnic and was attended by individuals associated with the city and the region, representatives of local and regional authorities, clergy, and members of the academic community. Because the Foundation is interested in integrating the local environment and promote interdisciplinary activities, people from different backgrounds and professions were invited. The Foundation continues this vision in Pszczyna every year by organizing a Christmas Eve meeting where interdisciplinary teams, probation officers, representatives of the Police, social workers, mediators, therapists and other people who, through their activities, contribute to increasing the quality and scope of assistance to the local community and beyond.

At the Blue Cross home, help was provided to individuals experiencing domestic violence, victims of traffic accidents  and those affected by other crimes. Support was offered through a branch of the Assistance Center for Victims of Crime (financed by Ministry of Justice). This assistance included free legal and psychological assistance, shelter to mothers and children,  material aid such as food vouchers, clothing vouchers and subsidies for rent and education.

At the same time, a branch of the Readaptation Center in Bielsko-Biała was established in Pszczyna, providing protected housing for people at risk of homelessness and social exclusion. In addition to accommodation, residents have the opportunity to undergo therapy (if necessary) and participate in renovation and construction works, which for many is an opportunity to develop skills needed for life after leaving the center.

Having many years of experience in running therapeutic centers in Bielsko-Biała, Żywiec and Czechowice-Dziedzice, the Foundation established) a Psychoprophylaxis Center in the House of the Blue Cross, which includes an Addiction Treatment Clinic and a Day Addiction Ward. Therapeutic groups are available for individuals struggling with alcohol addiction as well as  for those affected by a family members alcoholism. This center is a response to local demand in the field of addiction treatment and fills a 10-year gap in this field.

The Blue Cross House hosts patients, along with their therapists, almost every week during Outpatient Therapeutic Sessions. These are weekend stays of therapeutic groups from the Foundation's centers where intensive therapy sessions and progress evaluation takes place

It is worth recalling that at the beginning of 2015, the Foundation participated in the Food Aid Operational Program funded by the European Fund for the Most Deprived (FEAD). This allowed the foundation to provide food assistance to families and individuals struggling with difficult living conditions. In total, 12 tons of food were distributed to 600 people under the care of the Social Welfare Center in Pszczyna.

Currently, the foundation also organizes training programs for therapists and individuals who want to become therapists and support addicts in overcoming addiction. Training sessions on behavioral addictions and the Drinking Reduction Program have already been held, and the Addiction Therapy Study is starting soon.

The facility at Paderewskiego 3 is large, so it required (and still requires) a lot of work, time, resources and many hands to be able to fulfill its current functions. Some of the work was carried out by the beneficiaries of the Readaptation Center, but many of the rooms were renovated thanks to collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Poland. In 2015, several international groups visited Pszczyna and renovated the interior of the building as part of employee volunteering or volunteer projects from their schools. The groups came from, among others, France, Turkey, the United States, Northern Ireland and Poland, and they also used their stay to learn about the local culture and visit nearby attractions.

The international presence did not disappear when the work of volunteers from Habitat for Humanity ended. Even today, the group of friends and people actively participating in the everyday life of the Blue Cross community in Pszczyna includes people from Madagascar, the Philippines and Ukraine.

There are plans for further development of the House's activities and its services, and the Foundation is constantly working on their implementation. We know that both this place and the people who create it are full of potential. If circumstances are favorable, the House of the Blue Cross will proudly continue the work of Mother Eva and remain an important point on the aid map of the region and the country.
